After the radicalization of the League Against Cruel Sports began in 1958, young members of the group began to demand an increase in direct action. When the League failed to heed this demand, the Hunt Saboteurs Association was set up in 1963. This press photo of several members of the Street HSA chapter was taken in 1964 and highlights something that has been true ever since: Women have always been on the front line of the fight for animal liberation. In this rare instance they actually got credit for it, too!
